Review by hotel critic
During my recent business trip to the enchanting Stanley And Livingstone Boutique Hotel, I found myself utterly captivated by its unique charm and the breathtaking allure of the surrounding private conservation reserve. Nestled a mere 25 km from the spectacular Victoria Falls, the hotel offers an exquisite balance of colonial elegance and modern comfort, with its plush velvet sofas and beautiful antique-inspired decor creating a sense of stepping back into a bygone era. From the moment we were greeted by the exceptionally friendly staff, it was clear that service was a top priority here. The complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast was a delightful start to our days; I savoured every bite of the eggs Benedict while seated on the terrace overlooking the watering hole, watching a variety of animals sauntering by—what a surreal experience! The rooms themselves were remarkably spacious, equipped with large comfortable beds and an en-suite bathroom boasting a walk-in shower and a deep soaking bathtub—easily my favourite place to unwind after a day filled with exhilarating safari tours. Speaking of which, I cannot recommend the early evening game drives enough; witnessing the Big Five in such proximity is a memory I will treasure forever. As someone who appreciates fine dining, the meals at the hotel left me thoroughly impressed, with locally inspired dishes that truly highlight the area’s flavours. Together with my two sons, we indulged in afternoon tea and didn’t miss the chance to partake in the fascinating wine tastings offered. It seems this venue perfectly encapsulates everything I adore about travel—great food, wildlife, and impeccable service in stunning surroundings.
